A WOMAN was hospitalised following a four-vehicle crash near Yeovil, which left her trapped inside her car.
At around 11.06pm on Friday (January 2) Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service were called to reports of a multi-vehicle crash with “persons still believed to be inside the vehicle” on the A3088 in Montacute.
Crews from Martock and Yeovil Fire Stations were sent to the scene and, once there, confirmed that one woman was still within one of the vehicles.
South Western Ambulance Service NHS Trust were also called and sent two double-crewed ambulances and an operations officer to the scene.
Firefighters then got to work using cutting and stabilisation equipment to release the woman.
Once released by fire service personnel, she was assessed by South Western Ambulance Service NHS Trust paramedics, who were also at the scene and took her to Yeovil District Hospital.
A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called at 23:04hrs on Friday 02 January to a road traffic collision near Yeovil.
"We sent two double-crewed land ambulances and an operations officer to the scene.
"We conveyed one patient by land ambulance to Yeovil District Hospital.”

A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Fire Control mobilised one fire engine from Yeovil and one fire engine from Martock to reports of a four vehicle road traffic collision with persons still believed to be inside the vehicle.
“On arrival, crews confirmed that one female was still within one of the vehicles and got to work using cutting and stabilisation equipment to release the female.
“The female was released by Fire Service personnel and assessed by paramedics.”
