A FOUR-bedroom home with associated parking and landscaping could be built in the beer garden of a “traditional” Somerset Inn near Yeovil.

CPC Planning Consultants Ltd have submitted plans on May 14 for consideration on behalf of Red Oak Taverns Limited to erect a four-bedroom dwelling house on land adjacent to The Podymore Inn, that is currently being used as the beer garden.

The Podymore Inn is described as a “traditional” local public house with a “spacious” beer garden and car park.

The plans propose transforming the beer garden east of the pub into a brand-new house, with the children’s play area and beer garden both retained and relocated.

The proposed development also seeks to retain the existing public house as a functioning business and community facility with the business operations to be unaffected during construction.

According to the plan, the proposal would also “benefit the local economy” as it will provide a new household of consumers and an increase in local authority revenue.

Likewise, the plans state that the house could be a future home for new customers.
