YEOVIL, Somerset fire crews responded to reports of a fire after a single vehicle set alight from a road traffic collision which occurred in the early hours of Boxing Day morning, resulting in severe damage to the car.
Crews from the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service, from the attending station of Yeovil sent one fire engine to the scene after reports of a car on fire after a single vehicle road traffic collision.
On arrival, fire crews confirmed the vehicle was ‘well alight’ and all persons were free and clear.
After the Yeovil fire crew battled the car blaze, the fire was extinguished within an hour using one breathing apparatus wearer and one hose reel jet.
The car was nearly completely destroyed by the fire, sustaining 75% damage from the fire and the scene was left in the hands of the Avon and Somerset Police.
We are still currently awaiting comment from the Avon and Somerset police on the situation.
