A SUSPECT broke into a car before posting some items through the victim's letterbox and making a getaway.

West Yorkshire Police said on its Community Alert website that someone forced their way into a car parked on a driveway in Dukes Avenue, Odsal, Bradford on Monday.

They used "some kind of implement" to get into the vehicle, according to Jackie Watson, a Neighbourhood Support Officer in the Bradford South area.

She said: "They made an untidy search of the car interior and stole items of property.

"They posted a few items through the victim's letterbox before making off in an unknown direction."

Police urged people to double check their vehicle is locked and that nothing valuable is inside, as part of the community alert.
