THE much-anticipated sale of the fixtures and fittings of stunning Dillington House, Ilminster, takes place on Monday (October 30).

Greenslade Taylor Hunt has been appointed auctioneers for the unique sale, which will feature a diverse variety of items from furniture to shipping containers and a grand piano.

A total of more than 400 lots will go under the hammer.

It has already created a flurry of interest online where 40 would-be buyers are assessing the appeal of a statue of Hermes on a stepped column, which is expected to translate into strong bidding.

The full catalogue can be accessed HERE.

The sale is on view this Saturday and Sunday (October 28 and 29), from 10am to 3pm and from 9am to 11am on Monday (October 30), ahead of the sale. The postcode for the house is TA19 9DT.

Bidders will be able to attend in person and register on the day or follow the auction on the saleroom.com - successful buyers can take their items away on the day.

All purchases must be collected by 4pm on Friday, November 3.

The 16th Century Grade II listed country house has been leased by Somerset County Council since 1966, initially for adult/community education and more recently as an events venue.

Last year the council decided to cease activities at Dillington and has activated a break clause in the lease, ending activities at the historic building from September 2023.
