RESIDENTS and visitors are reminded of some road closures that will be in place tomorrow (Saturday, October 14) during Chard Carnival.

The carnival parade will start at 7.30pm from Millfield outside the first Numatic gate on the left.

The children’s parade will take place at 12pm and will start at Manor Court School.

Tonight (Friday, October 13) residents are invited to join the Carnival Bingo at 7.30pm at Crowshute.

Chard Carnival road closures

Chard Carnival said: “Please be advised the carnival starts at 7.30pm at Millfield on Saturday, October 14 and the roads in Chard will close at 6pm.”

Roads will close at 6pm

The roads will reopen after the procession on the instructions of the police.

No vehicle is to be allowed to enter the procession route once roads are closed.

During the procession, marshalls will be stationed along the route.

They will keep the crowd on the pavement on both sides of the road and monitor fast food areas.

First aiders will patrol the route on foot and by cycle.

Jason Baker, chairman of Chard Carnival Committee, previously said: “We are now looking ahead to Chard Children’s Carnival & Chard Carnival which will take place on Saturday, October 14, there are many events in the lead-up including the Carnival Quiz, The Beacon Lighting, Carnival Bingo, Spot the Wrong Un, and the fun fair.
