RESIDENTS in South Petherton enjoyed “the only illuminated village carnival still running in the area” earlier this month.
Following on from celebrating the 100th carnival last year, a collection of floats, bands, majorettes, and walking joined this year’s edition earlier this month.
The funfair was once again in attendance at Lightgate Recreation Ground, which is where the carnival lines up.
The procession then made its way along Lightgate Lane, Harvey’s Road, St James Street, Palmer Street, Summer Shard, and West Street before making its way back to the recreation ground along the same roads.
South Petherton is the first of the illuminated carnivals in South Somerset, and “the only illuminated village carnival still running in the area”.
