TEMPORARY traffic restrictions will be in place on a street in Ilminster for five days starting from this evening (June 28).

These restrictions, from 7pm to 6am, will affect Ditton Street and allow Wessex Water to carry out “urgent works to renew a stop tap”.

A message from Somerset Council said: “Somerset Council, in exercise of its powers under section 14(2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended and after giving notice to the Chief Officer of Police, has issued a notice, the effect of which is to introduce temporary traffic restrictions on the lengths of roads listed in the schedules to this notice.

“This notice will come into operation on June 28 2023 between 7pm and 6am to enable Wessex Water to carry out urgent works to renew a stop tap.

“This notice will remain in force for a maximum of five days. The restrictions will only apply when indicated by traffic signs.

Schedule 1 (Temporary Prohibition of Vehicles)
Ditton Street, Ilminster From a point 36 metres south from the junction with Silver Street in a southerly direction to the junction with Shudrick Lane.

Schedule 2 (Temporary Suspension of One Way)
Ditton Street, Ilminster From the junction with Silver Street in a southerly direction for a distance of 36 metres.

Statement of reasons for making the order

a) Because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road

b) Because of the likelihood of danger to the public, or of serious damage to the road, which is not attributable to such works.
