St Mary and St Peter’s Church School Coronation fun

The event was opened by Father Geoff Wade who, along with the chairman of the governors Terry Gibson, judged the Coronation Bake Off competition. Some of the creations were simply spectacular.

The school held a hobby horse polo competition in honour of King Charles, who played polo in his youth.

The children and their families then enjoyed a huge treasure hunt around the school site trying to find the items of the Crown Jewels they have been learning about at school.

Daniel from Year 4 said: “We ran as fast as we could to find the Crown Jewels.”

The morning festivities ended with the children singing a set of new Coronation songs to the Ilton community before the party moved into full swing.

Executive headteacher Connel Boyle said: “Our school was so proud to host this party for our community in Ilton and the surrounding area.

"I want to thank everyone who put so much effort into baking our amazing cakes and making the event so memorable for the children.

"Our Parent Family Association kindly purchased Coronation medals for the children as keepsakes as well.

"The support for our school from the whole community for this event has been breathtaking.”
