ILMINSTER Arts Centre is seeking to appoint a new chair to lead the Board of Trustees in support of their charitable objectives.
In this voluntary role, the chair will work with the Board and the Arts Centre Manager to help achieve a vision of an imaginative, adventurous, and valued programme of arts and entertainment activities that meets the needs, and develops the tastes and expectations of, local people and visitors to the county.
A spokesperson for the Arts Centre said: “We are looking for a natural leader who can act as an ambassador and spokesperson for the charity and ensure that the Board works together to provide maximum impact for our beneficiaries.
“Responsibilities will include ensuring the Board fulfils its duties, reviewing major risks and opportunities, and maintaining the financial health of the charity.
"The chair should demonstrate strong people skills, with an ability to bring together the Board, volunteers and external stakeholders towards a common strategic aim.
"They should have experience working at leadership level within an organisation, and knowledge of charity governance.
“A track record of fundraising, grant writing or leading events would be beneficial.
“Most importantly, however, we are looking for someone who is passionate about the impact culture and the arts can have on the community.
“We aim to ensure that we work with high levels of accountability, inclusivity and sustainability.
“We actively encourage democracy and accessibility to decision-making and are keen to investigate more effective ways of doing this.
“We also wish to promote a clear and shared vision of the Arts Centre's aims and values."
Trustee meetings are held once a month, with occasional additional meetings as required.
This is an active role which will require a minimum of five hours a week.
