A Somerset restaurant has been named among the best places to get a Sunday lunch in the UK, according to a list by The Guardian.

The Cotley Inn, located in Wambrook in Chard, was one of the 30 best listed by the newspaper.

In describing the restaurant The Guardian wrote: "An old stone farmhouse on the Cotley estate, with painterly views of the Blackdown Hills, it’s lit up in autumn by a fiery Virginia creeper and ringed by inviting-looking footpaths.

"The menu makes much of the surroundings, with beef and lamb sourced from the estate farm and homegrown rare-breed pork, chicken and veg."

One of The Cotley Inn's specialities is a "fireside mulled cider" with dishes like its ruby red beef and slow-cooked pork belly being a great compliment.

Plus, the restaurant is great for those who love game as it provides local venison, pheasant, Patridge and rabbit among others, particularly in the autumn and winter seasons.

The Cotley Inn has been recognised for its quality food and drinks among many publications this year, not just The Guardian.

In fact, it was named Visit England's Pub of the Year for 2022 alongside being featured in the 30th edition of the Trencherman's Guide and the Estrella Top 50 gastropubs.

On Tripadvisor, the pub is also highly rated, with a 4.5/5 rating based on 494 reviews.
