CREWKERNE and the local area has a new group for both carers and the people they care for.

Many carers - people who help their families and friends to live a fulfilling life - say that they would like to meet other carers and find out about what help is available but can not always make it to groups.

Carers have expressed that they feel anxious to come to a group alone or leaving the person they care for at home.

Finding and paying someone to sit with the person they care for whilst they join a group can also be difficult.

Chard & Ilminster News:

Henhayes have worked with Spark Somerset and Somerset Carers Service and now offers a new group and free activity group offer.

This is funded through a grant from the Sport England Together Fund with SASP.

Carers and the person they care for can come together to Henhayes on the third Thursday of the month at 2pm.

Carers meet with the support of an experienced Carers Group leader Jacky, to chat, share experiences and find out about activities and support.

The people they care for join the gentle, inclusive activities run by instructor Karen.

They all meet up for a cuppa and a chat so all go home feeling lifted and having had a good time.
