A 16-year-old boy has been arrested after armed police were called to reports of youths fighting with potential weapons.

West Yorkshire Police sent armed response units, an ambulance responder, police vans and a helicopter to Ryan Street, off Manchester Road.

The disturbance first began in Horton Park, the force said.

It saw one male victim taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The arrested teenager remains in police custody today as Bradford CID continues enquiries.

One onlooker described the incident as “a fractious scene” with crowds of young people seen on top of the Manchester Road bridge.

A police dog unit was also brought out to the scene.

In a statement, a spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: “Police were called to Horton Park in Bradford yesterday (15 August) at 17.15 to multiple reports youths possibly armed with weapons were fighting.

“One male was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

“A 16-year-old male has been arrested in connection with the incident and is in police custody.

“Enquiries are ongoing by Bradford CID.

“Local neighbourhood policing teams are carrying out reassurance patrols in the area.”
