ON May 22 the Blackdown District of Scouts organised a short cycle ride with challenges along the way from Ilminster to Chard along the old railway line and back again.

It was for teams of 4 – 6 and all the Scouts cycled in a safe manner departing Ilminster Summervale Surgery Carpark featuring challenges and time trials along the route.

The cost for this event is the staggering sum of £1 per Scout.

Activities took place in Chard before the group cycled back to Ilminster.

It was not a hard route but bikes need to be in good condition and road worthy, however the event was more of a fun way to see a different side of the local area.

The majority of the route was away from roads so the Scouts enjoyed the fresh air and countryside.
