CREWKERNE Museum is set to hold a special ‘Our World, Your Choices’ summer exhibition focusing on climate change.

Businesses will demonstrate what they are doing to be green, while local artists will show how they have adapted to use sustainable materials in their work.

A spokesperson for Crewkerne & District Museum said: “During the summer, the special exhibition ‘Our World, Your Choices’ will focus on climate change as a theme.

“Local businesses will to show what they are doing to cut their carbon emissions.

“The museum will exhibit information on how the way of life in the past, particularly during and after WWll, relates to life today.

“A variety of workshops are planned which will be run by local craftspeople and artists to show how using natural or recyclable materials can be both cost effective and fun.”

Early bird offers on workshop costs will be available in the first week of June.

On Friday, the museum was visited by Simon Hughes, an archaelogist working on the CLR housing development just off the A30 near Crewkerne.

He was there between 10am and 3pm to speak to around 80 visitors about the site's discoveries and to show them examples of the objects uncovered, including animal bones, brooches, and spinning tools.

The archaelogists will work for at least another year at the site excavating the pits, recording what they have found, and exploring the Roman site at the next part of the dig.

Crewkerne & District Museum will work with the archaeologists to arrange site visits during the summer.
