Hambridge Primary School holds Jubilee pudding competition

Members of staff at the school had the privilege of judging the competition, which saw pupils submit a range of royal-themed puddings. 

Entries included cakes topped with crowns, a crown-themed trifle, and a royal rocky road. 

Three winning puddings were selected from across the school. 

A Hambridge Primary School spokesperson said: "We were delighted with the response from the amazing children here at Hambridge.

"The staff had the pleasure of trying the puddings and the challenge of choosing the winners, all of which were fit for a queen!

"Our competition winners are Wright (year 4) with his beautifully colourful Union Jack-themed cake, Joss (reception) and Seth (year 2) with their fabulous 'Lovely Jubbly Jubilee Jelly' filled with cream and berries, and Henry (year 3) with his magnificently decorated crown-shaped biscuit.

"We can’t wait to share these amazing ‘Platinum Puddings’ with the whole of the Hambridge School Community at our Platinum Jubilee picnic in June."

The Queen became the first British monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee this year after 70 years of service. 

The nation will celebrate the milestone across a four-day Bank Holiday weekend in June (Thursday, June 2 to Sunday, June 5). 

There will be a range of events taking place in the Chard and Ilminster area and across Somerset for the Platinum Jubilee.

Some of the children designed their puddings to look like the Union Jack flag.

The competition marked the Queen's 70 years on the throne.

One pupil topped their entry with a crown to make it fit for a queen.

Not only did this cake have the Union Jack on its icing...

But it was also coloured red, white, and blue in the middle.
