RURAL Ranges were recently honoured to partner with Tokyo 2020 gold medal-winning athlete Kate French, from Frome, transforming her Aga into a golden showstopper.

The family-run cooker maintenance and conversion company owned by Steve & Alison Smith, were approached by Kate’s team to convert the Aga at her Frome country home, with the idea of creating a unique experience inspired by Kate’s recent success in Tokyo.

Kate was the first British competitor to win Olympic gold in the Modern Pentathlon since Sydney 2000.

She broke the Olympic record for overall points in the event, finishing off a spectacular sporting year of achievements; she had come to Tokyo having already set the women’s world record in fencing and as a World Cup winner in the Modern Pentathlon.

This year, she was appointed an MBE in the New Year’s Honours for her services to sport.

Rural Ranges was thrilled to have the chance to work with one of Britain’s brightest Olympic heroes and collaborated with Kate to give her traditional Aga an upgrade that was unique to her.

The company was already inspired by Kate’s wish to convert into an Electrickit, a more flexible and environmentally friendly way of running an Aga.

But Rural Ranges also offered her an upgrade with their ‘Go Gold’ package, giving her Aga striking gold finishes to celebrate her achievements.

Her Aga now has real gold-plated accessories such as domes, handrails, buttons and handles.

Kate was delighted with her upgrade, and so Rural Ranges teamed with photographer Oliver Grahame to commemorate the occasion.

Business owner Alison Smith said: “When we were approached by Kate, we knew we had to do something special, so now her Aga shines as bright as her medal! It was an absolute privilege to work with Kate and honour her incredible success.”

The ‘Go Gold’ package is available to all Rural Ranges customers, as well as in Rose Gold, Black Chrome, Nickel and Copper.
