A TAUNTON trumpeter has been presented with an award by the High Sheriff of Somerset.
Luis Martelo received the award yesterday, January 18 at Taunton Racecourse Conference Centre.
He was recognised for his “great and valuable services to the community”.
Mr Martelo, who has been living in Taunton for four years, said the award was “the most special” he has received.
He added: “It was special to receive an award so close to the Monarchy and I am very happy about this award, it’s probably the most special.
“When you are far from everyone and everything things like these have another feeling for us.
“I belong here, and people show me love and support whenever I play on the streets.”
