CHRISTMAS has been an exciting time for the pupils at Greenfylde C of E First School as they have enjoyed a number of festive events at the school.

The children have enjoyed creating their Christmas trees for the Minster Tree Festival and two of the pupils had the privilege of helping Rev Jo Stobart to light up the trees at the opening ceremony.

All of the trees were well received by the community and helped the children raise money for various groups including nearly £20 for Fairtrade, £31 for Royal British Legion and £36 for Save the Children.

As well as that, the students raised over £200 when reindeers, snowflakes and even Christmas unicorns were in abundance as children and staff supported the charity’s Christmas jumper day.

Supporting the community celebrate was also seen as children in Golden class were given the very important task of designing Christmas cards for the Mayor of Ilminster, Cllr Burton and the Town Council. All of the children were very proud when they received copies of the finished cards this week and they hope they bring Christmas cheer to the recipients.

Christmas crafts were also evident as the school once again took part in The Minster’s Advent Christmas Window and helped light up Ilminster.

Finally, a very special visitor came with his Chief Elf to take over the Forest School Log Cabin and met with all the children from Pre-School to Year 4 and brought them presents before the children went to have a special Christmas Lunch delivered by an Elf delivery team from the school.
