IT'S been a scorcher in Somerset today.

We all enjoyed the sunshine as summer truly kicked in - but just how hot did it actually get?

Well, the Met Office monitoring stations across the south west tell an interesting story.

The meteorological service measures certain weather conditions, including temperatures, at locations across the country.

In Somerset, the Mendip/South Somerset border area enjoyed the highest temperature, with the mercury rising to 26C.

Elsewhere, Minehead, on the Somerset coast, reached 23C.

  • Taunton/Wellington - 23C (measured at Dunkeswell Aerodrome, Devon)
  • Minehead/Exmoor - 23C (measured at Liscombe, Somerset)
  • Wells/Glastonbury - 26C (measured at Yeovilton, Somerset)
  • Bath - 26C (measured at Almondsbury, South Gloucestershire)
  • Exeter - 24C (measured at Exeter Airport, Devon)
