THE Covid-19 rates of infection in three of the four Somerset districts are well below the overall rate for England.

A fourth district remains above the national average.

Figures released this afternoon show the rate per 100,000 of population based on the latest seven-day rolling figures are:

  • South Somerset 6.5 people per 100,000;
  • Somerset West and Taunton 11 per 100,000;
  • Sedgemoor 30.8 per 100,000;
  • Mendip 13 per 100,000.

The overall infection rate for Somerset is 14.1 per 100,000.

The South West rate is 12.4 per 100,000.

And the rate for the whole of England is 22.1 per 100,000.
