A THIEF has been jailed for a total of seven months at Taunton Magistrates' Courts for a series of offences.

Liam Scott Allen, 31, of no fixed address received two-month concurrent sentences after admitting stealing eight blue rays from HMV in Yeovil; items valued at £39.99 from Superdrug, Yeovil; and food and coffee at Yeovil Motor Company.

Allen, who is already serving a 14-month prison sentence, was given a further five months (consecutive) for stealing food and drink valued at £31.54 from Yeovil Motor Company.

He was jailed for three months (concurrent) for two counts of assault by beating and ordered to pay his victims £78 compensation each.

There was no separate penalty for using threatening or abusive words or behaviour.

Allen pleaded guilty tot all the offences.

A BRIDGWATER man pleaded guilty to three motoring offences in the town's Kendale Road on July 24 last year.

Gary Michael Sockett, 32, of Haygrove Park Road, was fined £250 for drug driving with a quantity of a cocaine breakdown product in his system.

He was also ordered to pay a £35 victim surcharge and £85 costs and banned from driving for 14 months.

He received no separate penalty for driving without the correct licence and for a further charge of possession of cannabis.

Sockett was fined £100 for driving without insurance.

TARA Sullivan, 38, of Oak Apple Drive, Bridgwater, pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention on the M5 on January 27 this year.

She was fined £275, with a £32 victim surcharge and £85 costs, and was given four penalty points.

CARL Anthony Lawless, 35, of Springfield Road, Yeovil, was given a nine-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay a £22 victim surcharge after admitting jointly attempting to steal alcohol from Asda in the town on September 20 last year.
