A PRISONER already serving 20 months has been given a further 20 weeks behind bars.

Wesley George Galloway, 27, who is in Exeter Prison, pleaded guilty at Taunton Magistrates' Courts to a charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

The court was told that Galloway inflicted "significant injury" to the "vulnerable individual" in Fore Street, Wellington, on July 11 last year.

Magistrates conceded that he may not have known the victim was vulnerable, but he should "take your victim as you find them".

As well as a 20-week jail term to run consecutively to a 20-month prison stretch imposed at Taunton Crown Court on March 17 this year, Galloway was ordered to pay his victim £150 compensation.

COLIN Alan Danes, 44, of Shakespeare Avenue, Taunton, has been ordered to pay Tesco £35 compensation for shoplifting in the store in the county town.

Danes, who was also given a six-month conditional discharge, pleaded guilty to jointly stealing items valued at £70 on October 15 last year.

A BRIDGWATER man who damaged a head light and a bumper of a BMW X5 has been ordered to pay the owner £400 compensation.

Kyle Lee Kimmins, 26, of Rhode Lane, admitted causing £450 worth of damage in the town on August 31 last year.

He also pleaded guilty to assaulting the owner by beating on the same day.

He was given a 12-month conditional discharge.
