RESIDENTS at a care home in Ilminster are celebrating this week after receiving their second Covid-19 vaccination.
The vaccination team at Langport surgery visited Vaughan Lee House care home last Wednesday to administer the second jab.
Shirley Robbins, staff member at the care home, said the second vaccine jab comes as a "huge relief".
"We are definitely looking forward to getting back to normality," she said.
"It will be nice to have visitors in. We have got the pods, but it is not the same as being able to touch or hug someone.
"We used to take residents on trips and so hopefully we will be able to start doing that again, being cooped up here isn't great for anyone's mental health.
"Resident's had the first jab in January and only waited 12 weeks for the second.
"The staff and doctors were all amazing and it went really smoothly - it couldn't have gone better.
"Throughout the whole pandemic we haven't had any problems with PPE or anything, the only downside of course is that residents couldn't see their families."
