A PRIMARY school in Chard took part in an art project called 'Tree of Hope' during the most recent coronavirus lockdown.
Pupils at The Redstart Primary School in Chard created art inspired by a range of subjects including landmarks, mosaics and bunches of flowers.
The school created seven online art galleries to showcase students pieces of work - and for the last gallery, children were asked to create a 'Tree of Hope'.
Mrs Philippa Evans from The Redstart Primary School said: “We wanted to help those parents and carers who were helping children across multiple year groups by setting an art challenge that could be done by everyone at the same time.
"We had lots of pieces of art done by siblings together.
"We would like to thank all of the children and families who have cheered us up with their colourful and creative art over the last two months.”
The final 'Tree of Hope' will be shared at the Chard Forefront Church, who are running a community art project based on hope.
The school is part of The Redstart Learning Partnership.
A spokesperson from the partnership added: “We are so delighted to hear about the ‘Tree of Hope’ art project that The Redstart Primary school has been working on during the recent lockdown.
"The art galleries on their Facebook page are phenomenal and there are some truly fabulous pieces of work here.
"We cannot wait to see the work displayed a Chard Forefront Church.
"Well done and thank you to all involved for providing some visual joy during these difficult times.”
