THERE were 37 new Covid-19 cases in four Somerset districts in the past 24-hours, according to the latest figures.

Sedgemoor had 14 new cases, bring the total since the start of the pandemic to 5, 119. Mendip had five positive tests (bringing the total to 3, 353); South Somerset had 13 new cases (bringing the total to 5, 145) and Somerset West and Taunton had five positive tests (bringing the total to 5, 836).

The rate of infection is dropping in all districts - apart from Mendip, whose rate of infection is 51.9 people per 100,000, which is up from 47.6 yesterday (March 13).

Somerset West and Taunton's rate of infection is 11.6 (down from 13.5); Sedgemoor's is 38.2 (down from 39) and South Somerset's is 51.7 (down from 54.6).

Sadly, there was one death in Somerset West and Taunton, bringing the total since the start of the pandemic to 201.
