THERE were just 16 positive Covid tests across Somerset in the latest 24-hour period.

Of those, nine were in South Somerset; three in Somerset West and Taunton; three in Sedgemoor; and one in Mendip.

The infection rate has dipped in two districts and risen in the other two.

It stands at 47.5 per 100,000 people according to the seven-day rolling figure in South Somerset, up from 39.8 the previous day.

In Somerset West and Taunton the rate is as low as 21.3 per 100,000 (down from 28.4).

Sedgemoor is at 43.8 per 100,000 (down from 54.4).

In Mendip it is 46.7 (up from 40.7).

The overall number of confirmed cases in each district since the start of the pandemic is 5,088 in South Somerset; 5,814 in SWT; 5,091 in Sedgemoor; and 3,326 in Mendip.

We have seen a number of clear days with no Covid related deaths.

The total number of deaths across the county council area since the start of the pandemic remain at 148 in South Somerset; 200 in SWT; 152 in Sedgemoor; 159 in Mendip.
