A NEW care home planned for Wincanton will create 140 jobs and offer specialist care for up to 74 residents.

Cale View, on Dyke’s Way, will provide care for adults of all ages with challenging behaviours associated with complex neurological and mental health conditions.

The £10 million development will be Cornerstone Healthcare’s fourth home, joining its existing premises in Hampshire and Surrey.

Group chief executive Johann van Zyl said: "We are excited to bring this much-needed service to Wincanton.

"This project gives us the opportunity to offer our service to a large group of people who tend to be forgotten about and to ease the burden on dementia care homes in the area who may struggle to manage the needs of these individuals.

"Cale View will be the first of our homes that we’ve built from scratch so not only will we be able to provide care that is tailored to our residents, but a home that is designed to cater for their complex and challenging needs.

"It is of the utmost importance that Cale View contributes to the local community.

"As well as creating 140 new jobs, as part of our company policy we will be supporting local businesses by contracting with them for professional services, products and consumables for the home."

Although the home isn’t due to welcome its first residents until autumn 2022, Cornerstone has already begun building relationships with NHS trusts and local authorities in the area so the home can understand their needs and those of the wider area.

Cale View is named after the River Cale which runs through the site. It will have the most up to date design features with large spacious rooms and lounge areas.
