THE number of new confirmed Covid-19 cases in Somerset has gone back up again.

The latest 24-hour figures released by the Government show there were 264 positive cases in the county council area.

Of those, 75 were in South Somerset, which has had 4,322 confirmed cases since the start of the pandemic.

Somerset West and Taunton had 89 new confirmed cases (overall total 4,982); Sedgemoor had 4,280 positive tests (overall total 4,280); and Mendip had 40 (overall total 2,833).

The rolling seven-day infection rate per 100,000 population went down in all four districts.

In South Somerset it is now 230.5 per 100,000 (down from 238.3 the previous day); in SWT it is 295.5 (down from 313.9); in Sedgemoor it is 247.6 (down from 253.3); and in Mendip it is 249.2 (down from 251.8).
