THE Covid-19 infection rate has dropped in all four Somerset district according to the latest seven-day rolling figures released by the Government.

Somerset West and Taunton remains the worst affected area with a rate of 313.3 per 100,000 - down from the previous 339.9.

Sedgemoor's infection rate is 253.3 per 100,000 (down from 263).

Mendip has a rate of 251.8 (down from 264.7).

The lowest rate is in South Somerset at 238.3 per 100,000 (down from 247.1).

The latest 24-hour positive test figures are 24 in South Somerset, which has an overall total of 4,247 since the start of the pandemic.

SWT had 58 new confirmed cases (overall total 4,893).

Sedgemoor saw 33 positive tests (overall total 4,220).

And in Mendip there were 23 new confirmed cases (overall total 2,793).

That means there have now been 16,153 confirmed coronavirus cases in the county council area since the start of the pandemic.
