A FOODBANK in Martock fed more than 100 people at Christmas - and provided gifts to those in need.
Transforming Lives FoodBank planned Christmas food parcels for more than 40 families in the area.
And the children and parents at Martock School donated Christmas Day presents to help make the day special for everyone.
With the support of the Transforming Lives Fund, community funding, local businesses (including Bower Hinton Farm Shop, the Co-op, the Trading Post and AJ Winters Butchers), Martock School, Rotary, local churches and people in the community, the Christmas food parcels fed around 125 people - and 65 of those were children.
“Being able to support families through the Christmas period was a real privilege,” said Angela Brett, Transforming Lives Foodbank co-ordinator.
“We want to thank everyone who has contributed so generously to supporting these families.
“And let’s not forget – that without the selfless support of so many wonderful volunteers this would not have been possible.”
The foodbank - based at The George in Martock - is still working with the community, and the Transforming Lives Fund, to ensure that no one goes hungry in 2021.
It relies on donations to the Transforming Lives Fund, which is independently administered by the Treasurer at MCF (Martock Christian Fellowship).
The foodbank also relies on regular contributions of non-perishable foods and non-food items, such as toiletries and cleaning products year round, which are made by individuals in the community.
