AT least 100 Covid-19 deaths have now been recorded in each of the four Somerset districts since the start of the pandemic as the county suffers a further day of tragedy.

A total of eleven deaths of people who had tested positive for coronavirus in the past 28 days were recorded in one day in the county council area, according to Government figures released this afternoon (Thursday).

The hardest hit district was Somerset West and Taunton, where seven people lost their lives in the latest 24-hour period. Sadly it follows nine deaths in SWT recorded in yesterday's figures and five the previous day.

Mendip had three Covid-related deaths in the latest daily figures and there was one death in South Somerset.

No deaths from the virus were recorded in Sedgemoor.

Overall Somerset has seen 427 Covid-related deaths from any cause since the start of the pandemic.

Of those, 117 have been in South Somerset; 103 in SWT; 100 in Sedgemoor; and 107 in Mendip.
