We have created a list of the top five Somerset beaches as rated by reviewers on Trip Advisor:

1) Berrow Beach

Rating: 4.5 stars out of 245 reviews

One reviewer said: "Brilliant place for a long walk with great views. Beware of the tide coming in and cutting you off. Lots of paths through the sand dunes too."

2) Weston-super-Mare Beach

Rating - 4.5 stars out of 1,354 reviews

One reviewer said: "We chose a sunny winter afternoon to drive to Weston Super Mare and spend some time walking along its lovely sandy beach. In these COVID days, it's so good to get into the fresh air and enjoy the scenery well away from everyone else! It was a pity that most of the cafes were closed but the excellent walk made up for it."

3) Brean Sands

Rating - 4.5 stars out of 38 reviews

One reviewer said: "Lovely sandy beach. Beautiful and clean. So very long for a good walk. Quite a lot of development right up to the beach edge make access a bit tricky."

4) Minehead

Rating: 4 stars out of 33 reviews

One reviewer said: "Fabulous wide open expanse of beach in the big bay at Minehead. A mixture of sand and stone with lovely wrap round views of this charming resort.

"A walk on the prom to the small harbour at the far end is most enjoyable. The sculpture at the start of South West Coastal Path is worth seeing, situated by the beach at the harbour end."

5) Kilve Beach

Rating - 4 stars out of 226 reviews

One reviewer said: "What a lovely beach. Amazing rock formations. Found one loose fossil and several seen set in the rocks. Walked to Watchet and back."
