A WOMAN is in hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a car on the M5 motorway in Somerset.
Police are keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the incident, which happened between junctions 26 (Wellington) and 27 (Tiverton) at around 10.15pm on Christmas Day (December 25).
The woman sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital by air ambulance where she continues to receive treatment.
"Her condition is not thought to be life threatening," said an Avon and Somerset Police spokesperson.
"Both carriageways were closed for several hours as specialist collision investigators examined the scene."
Police have urged anyone who saw a woman walking on the motorway, or who has dash cam footage and who hasn’t yet spoken to police, to call 101, reference 5220288243.
