THE Covid-19 infection rate has dropped in ALL FOUR Somerset districts, according to figures released by the Government this afternoon (Friday).

The latest daily figures showed an increase of 72 new confirmed cases in the county council area.

Of those, six were in Mendip, which has seen an overall total of 852 positive tests; 32 in Sedgemoor (1,490 total confirmed cases); 11 in Somerset West and Taunton (1,427 total); and 23 in South Somerset (1,413 total).

The latest seven-day results show 132 positive tests in Mendip, giving it an infection rate of 114.2 per 100,000 of population, down from yesterday's figure of 115.9.

Sedgemoor had 162 new confirmed cases over the seven days, infection rate 131.5 (down from 135.6).

In SWT there were 114 positive tests, infection rate 73.5 (previously 81.9).

And in South Somerset there were 181 new confirmed cases, at a rate of 107.5 (down from 117).
