A RESIDENT of a Somerset care home celebrated her 106th birthday in style this week.
Dina Aldridge, also known as Pat, was born in Solihull on November 26, 1914 - four months after the outbreak of the First World War.
One of eight children, she enjoyed an idyllic childhood living on a farm and is the only one of her siblings to reach the age of 100.
Pat was married to her husband Ken for 52 years until she was widowed in 1990, and she continued to live independently in the local community until recently.
She moved into Nynehead Court - a residential care home in the Somerset countryside, two miles north of Wellington - because her family were moving away, and she wanted to stay close to her friends.
On Thursday Pat celebrated her 106th birthday at the residential home with a small celebration in the drawing room, complete with bubbly and cake.
