RESIDENTS at a South Somerset care home came together last Thursday (November 19) to mark International Men's Day.

West Abbey Care Centre, Yeovil, marked the occasion - which seeks to encourage men to lead by example and become positive male role models for other men and boys - with a series of activities.

Residents enjoyed sitting together and reminiscing about days of old, jobs and cars (among other things!) with a drink in hand.

An activities board was also introduced, with many different items for the men to tinker with, from locks and keys to screws that needed tightening.

This was something that was really enjoyed due to a lot of the residents spending most of their time in the past doing odd jobs around the house.

Caroline Carter, general manager at the care centre, said: “International Men’s Day is a really positive way for us to celebrate all the incredible men we have living within our home.

"It is important for us to recognise all the wonderful men in our lives and let them know how much we value them.”
