THE rate of Covid-19 infection in one Somerset district has passed 100 per 100,000 of population.

The unwanted landmark was reached in Sedgemoor, according to the latest Government figures.

They show that for the latest seven-day analysis of the virus spread in the county council area. there wer 387 new confirmed cases, at a rate of 68.8 per 100,000 - up from 367 cases at a rate of 65.3 per 100,000 in the previous day's figures.

The latest seven day totals for the district, with the previous day's figures in bracket, are:

MENDIP: 56 new confirmed case (54) at a rate of 48.4 per 100,000 (46.7);

SEDGEMOOR: 129 (115) new cases at a rate of 104.7 (93.4);

SOMERSET WEST AND TAUNTON: 122 new cases (118) at a rate of 47.5 (45.7).
