A POLL by the Somerset County Gazette has revealed that the majority of participants believe there should be a second national lockdown in England.
Last week pressure was growing on the Government to impose a short-term circuit-breaker lockdown in England in a bid to get rising coronavirus infections under control.
The Government did not impose a lockdown instead opting for a three-tier system to help reduce the spread of coronavirus.
Under the new system different areas of England have been split up into medium, high and very high alert levels.
These three tiers represent an advancing scale of local lockdown restrictions with Tier 3 referring to areas in the “very high” category.
A poll on the Somerset County Gazette website, which provides a small snapshot of the situation, showed that 52 per cent of the 880 people who took part were in favour of a second lockdown in England.
