Although this weekend wasn’t anything like a normal Ilminster Carnival weekend, we still had a great time promoting the carnival and celebrating via a number of virtual events.

At 6pm on Saturday we announced the winning entry in our Best of Ilminster Carnival competition live on Facebook. The results were as followed:

1st - Gemini CC - To The Trees (2009)

2nd - Harlequin CC - Fogg’s World Tour (2015)

3rd - One Plus One CC - Afro Circus (2018)

We would like to congratulate Gemini CC and all the other entries that were featured in the competition over the last two months.

We received over 200 votes in the final vote.

Thank you to everyone who took part, it was great fun to look back at past entries.

Our Ilminster Carnival live streams were a great success as well with a combined total of 3,700 views on our videos across Facebook and YouTube.

We really hope people enjoyed the virtual experience, although we hope that next year we can all celebrate the carnival together.

However, the only positive of the virtual carnival was that we stayed dry.

The weather on Saturday night would have made for a very wet and soggy Ilminster Carnival.

The 7th and final part of the Guess the Entry quiz was also posted over the weekend.

You can now complete all seven quizzes via our website - www.ilminstercarnival.co.uk

We would also like to thank DJ Ginge (Matt Sainsbury) who chose Ilminster Carnival Committee to receive the donations from his live Carnival themed SpeedQuiz on Saturday evening.

He was able to raise around £100 which we are very grateful for.

We have currently raised a total of £276 on our Just Giving page.

This money is vital for the carnival as there are still a number of costs, including insurance and this money will ensure we are ready for next years procession.

You can still donate to our Just Giving Page via this website: justgiving.com/crowdfunding/ilminster-carnival

Thank you to everyone for your support this year. Hopefully we will see you all next year
