FIREFIGHTERS tackled a “deliberate” car fire which spread to a nearby house.

A crew from Yeovil was called to the fire in Brympton, Yeovil, at 1.28am this morning (September 22).

A spokesperson from Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue said: “Upon arrival crews confirmed the vehicle to be well alight and requested further appliances to attend due to the car being in close proximity to the house.

“Two further fire engines from Yeovil attended the incident and crews confirmed that an end terraced property was also affected by the fire.

“Crews requested the attendance of the rescue tender from Yeovil for the flexi camera to check cavity walls of the property for fire spread.

“The cause of this incident is believed to be deliberate therefore police were also in attendance.”

In total, three fire engines attended the incident and the crews used four breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets, one safety jet, a fog spike and two thermal imaging cameras to extinguish the blaze.
