A 1950s classic is among the lots at an auction of classic and vintage cars this month.

The Bentley saloon is part of the Charterhouse online auction of classic and vintage cars on Wednesday, September 23.

“Any classic Bentley is a piece of British motoring history and this saloon is no exception,” said auctioneer, Richard Bromell.

“With its super smooth lines and super smooth 6 cylinder engine this was the gentleman driver’s choice over its sibling Rolls-Royce back in the day.”

The Bentley was supplied to its first owner S C Joseph Clifford Motor Components (Birmingham) in February 1950.

Still a matching numbers Bentley 70 years later, the car was restored in the 1990s.

This included an engine rebuild, a bare metal respray, a retrim with Oxford hide with matching carpets and a new headlining. In addition, the walnut trim was also repolished.

Now looking for a new garage, this post-war gentleman’s express is estimated to sell for £20,000-25,000 at the Charterhouse auction.

Charterhouse are now accepting further entries for this auction of classic and vintage cars, as well as their sale of pictures, books, sporting items and Beswick on October 1 and 2, followed by classic and vintage motorcycles on October 28.
