THERE was in increase in the number of positive Covid-19 test results in each of the four Somerset districts in the latest Public Health England figures.

A total of seven confirmed new cases were recorded in the area covered by Somerset County Council in the 24 hours to 5pm yesterday (Thursday).

Of those, three were in Mendip, two in Sedgemoor, and one each in Somerset West & Taunton and South Somerset.

The rise means there have now been 1,335 cases recorded in the county.

Of those, 140 have been in Mendip; 398 in Sedgemoor; 455 in Somerset West and Taunton; and 342 in South Somerset.

No coronavirus-related deaths were reported in the county council patch over the same period.
