EMERGENCY service were called to what appears to have been a serious accident on the Minehead Road just outside Taunton in the early hours of this morning (Friday).
The road at its junction with Langford Lane, at Pen Elm, near Norton Fitzwarren, was closed at around 1.40am but has since re-opened to traffic.
Speaking at 8.10am, an Avon and Somerset Police spokesman told your County Gazette: "Emergency services are currently at the scene of a single-vehicle collision in Norton Fitzwarren at the junction of the A358 and Langford Lane.
"It happened at about 1.40am this morning.
"Two men have been taken to hospital.
"The road is likely to be shut for some time and we advise drivers seek an alternative route."
A witness says a single vehicle was involved.
A Buses of Somerset spokesman said Minehead to Taunton services are being rerouted.
He said: "Due to a an accident on the A358 near Langford Lane service 28 is diverted via Cotford St Luke and is unable to serve Norton Manor Camp or Langford Lane. Sorry for the inconvenience."
