FIREFIGHTERS from Bridgwater and Burnham-on-Sea were sent to tackle a fire at a property in the village of West Huntspill yesterday afternoon (Wednesday, August 12).
Shortly before 5pm, Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue received a call about a fire involving a bin store at the rear of a property in Church Road, West Huntspill.
The crews swiftly got to work on arrival and managed to douse the flames with a hose reel jet, but the fire spread to the roof of the adjacent bungalow.
The fire was soon extinguished and a positive pressure ventilation fan used to clear the smoke.
A spokesman for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue said: "The bin store was severely damaged, and the bungalow minor damage to the roof and kitchen.
"Crews did final checks of the area with a thermal imaging camera to ensure the fire was completely out and cool.
"The fire was deemed to be accidental."
