THERE is a 'risk of severe thunderstorms' in the South West this week following a warm and sunny weekend for much of the region.
With parts of the UK, particularly the South East, seeing a heatwave over Saturday and Sunday, the weather is expected to take a turn and become mure humid later in the week.
In the South West today (Sunday, August 9), there is expected to be plenty of sunshine, with temperatures likely to reach as high as 33°C in some parts.
The evening should be dry and clear for most areas, however a few thundery showers are possible in the early hours, according to the Met Office.
On Monday it is expected to remain hot but also become more humid, and there could be the odd, perhaps thundery shower in the afternoon.
However the Met Office forecast for the South West from Tuesday to Thursday states: "There is a risk of severe thunderstorms through this period, which could be interspersed with clearer and sunny spells."
The weather is expected to remain warm and humid in this time.
