A NEW group is uniting Crewkerne’s companies to better promote business in the town.

The inaugural meeting of the Crewkerne Business Group took place over Zoom last week, and saw 13 business owners join.

The catalyst for the new group was a business breakfast morning organised by Crewkerne Town Council in February.

Aiming to build on the success of other local initiatives including ‘Love Yeovil’, the business breakfast was a chance for Crewkerne business owners to have their say about the future of the town.

It also featured a talk and Q&A with David Woan, president of Yeovil Chamber of Commerce.

The call was hosted by Leighton Ballantine, of Ballantine Wealth Management.

He said: “We had such a great response to our first-ever meeting of the Crewkerne Business Group. 13 businesses of all shapes and sizes were represented with everyone making a contribution and getting involved.

“This gives me real positivity that we can create something special to bring the local Crewkerne business community together and be a force for good.”

Although Covid-19 impacted momentum following the February meet-up, the group is now planning monthly meetings.

Among the ideas shared were festivals, events and initiatives for welcoming new business owners to the town. For more, contact Leighton.Ballantine@sjpp.co.uk.
