A FISH and seafood restaurant overlooking the River Tone in central Taunton is up for sale.

Albatross was established two years ago in Riverside Place as an offshoot of Augustus, in the nearby Courtyard, by former Castle Hotel head chef Richard Guest and Cedric Cedric Chirrosel.

It is now on the market with Stonesmith, who describe it was "an impressive and extremely well-regarded restaurant with an excellent reputation".

The well-maintained property was fully refurbished in mid-2018 ahead of Albatross opening.

A Stonesmith spokesman said: "The sale of Albatross Fish and Seafood represents a fantastic opportunity to purchase an exceptionally high turnover catering business occupying a prime and sought-after riverside location in a popular Somerset town.

"The business occupies a prominent position with impressive river views within the heart of Taunton.

"The excellent trading location is within the immediate vicinity of a number of renowned national retailers and is well placed to benefit from the considerable commercial advantages of other complementary businesses, office and residential developments, all of which generate significant levels of business."

The two-storey premises features a ground floor restaurant and bar area seating 34 customers; a first floor restaurant for 40 customers; fully equipped kitchen; and courtyard terrace seating area for 30 people.

The Stonesmith spokesman added: "It offers modern contemporary furnishings and décor and the business undoubtedly offers potential for incoming operators to continue to build upon the successful reputation of the existing business, or for new operators to develop their own style of trade."

The leasehold business is on the market for an asking price of £95,000. For details visit www.stonesmith.co.uk or call 01392 201262.

The restaurant is beside the multi-million pound Coal Orchard development, currently under construction and which will offer bars, restaurants, homes, offices and shops when completed.
