PLAYDAYS and other summer activities to entertain South Somerset children during the summer holidays have been cancelled.
The events, which have run for the past decade, have been called off by South Somerset District Council amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Alternative fun activities are being explored to provide play for families in the district, the council says, such as online play activities.
Councillor Mike Best said: “It is hard to see Playdays and other summer activities cancelled for this year, they are events that we all look forward to.
"But at this time we have to think about the safety of our communities and the right thing to do is to cancel.
“All is not lost however, we are looking into alternative ways of bringing fun to the children of South Somerset. We are also looking forward to bringing Playdays back next year and hoping that you will join us for more family fun.”
