CHARD Museum is marking its 50th anniversary with launch of a new website.
The tireless volunteers had planned a public celebration to mark the occasion, but it was put on hold by the coronavirus lockdown.
Never ones to take a break, the members have instead been working hard to bring to life their new website, which was launched last week.
Vince Lean, chairman of Chard Museum, said: “Government advice, the protection of volunteers and visitors has resulted in any celebrations for the Museum’s 50th Anniversary being put on hold.
“This period of time has been used to create a new website that celebrates Chard history, its many stories and personalities.
“Recent Government advice has meant that the Museum is unlikely to open its doors before late July and even then, it’s likely that it will initially, only open part time.
“However, we wanted to re-assure friends, members and supporters that we are developing a plan when the Museum opens that puts the safety of volunteers and visitor’s above everything else.”
Because of Covid-19, the museum was unable to carry out its AGM in March.
Instead, the event is set to take place on July 29, with details over venue and start time yet to be announced.
